Pediatric Endocrinology Fellow, Childrens Hospital Boston
Postdoctoral Fellow, Isganaitis Lab
Chang was born in China and grew up in Michigan. She earned her B.A. in Biological Sciences with concentration in Neurobiology from Northwestern University. She worked at Feinberg School of Medicine as a research technician studying and performing high-resolution esophageal motility diagnostic studies after college. She then attended medical school at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, and completed pediatric residency at Children's Hospital at Montefiore/Albert Einstein School of Medicine. After working one year as a general pediatrician at Akron Children's Hospital in Ohio while her husband completed his fellowship, Chang was thrilled to have matched at Boston Children's Hospital for pediatric endocrinology fellowship, where she is currently a clinical fellow.
For her fellowship research, Chang was seeking to join a lab that focuses on the prevention and treatment of obesity, inspired by her experience as a resident in the Bronx and a general pediatrician in Ohio. Under the combined mentorship of Dr. Elvira Isganaitis and Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Patti, Chang is excited to learn about and conduct translational research on the generational effect of obesity. Her primary project explores the effect of maternal exercise on milk composition and infant body composition. She aspires to become an academic pediatric endocrinologist who will focus on caring for children with obesity and investigating new strategies for prevention and management of childhood obesity.
When Chang is not seeing patients at Boston Children's or researching at the Joslin Diabetes Center, she enjoys spending time with her family outdoors, exploring the diverse food scene in Boston, making and appreciating all forms of art.
