Bio

Dr. Marsel Lino is a post-doctoral research fellow in Dr. C. Ronald Kahn's laboratory at the Joslin Diabetes Center/Harvard Medical School. His research aims to uncover novel inter-organ communication networks by studying tissue-specific exosomal miRNAs in models of obesity and diabetes, with a focus on adipose-derived miRNAs. Dr. Lino obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology at the University of Toronto (Toronto, Canada) in 2019. His research uncovered a new function of the protein DDR1 in regulating obesity and metabolism in mice. His research experiences have led him to study diabetes with a focus on adipose biology at the Joslin Diabetes Center. When he's not at the bench, Marsel loves to cook, eat, travel, and experience new things.
